  • Planned buckeye resource center was named Monda Student Resource Center through the generous gift of Keith Monda and Veronica Brady.

  • In autumn, Student Life’s Scarlet and Gray Financial program is awarded the Compass Award by the State Treasurer’s office. The annual recognition program commends organizations, programs and individuals across the state who are working to guide Ohioans the program for its peer-to-peer approach for helping students develop goals, create spending plans, and establish next steps to achieve greater financial stability and success.   • Brandon Horton receives the Larry K. Williamson, Jr. Staff Impact Award, presented during the Afrikan American Farewell Celebration at The Ohio State University 

April 2024

  • Brandon Horton receives Supervisor of the Year Award, presented by The Student Personnel Assistantship Program at The Ohio State University. Wellness Coordinator for Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drug Prevention at the Student Life Student Wellness Center, Brandon was nominated by not one, but all five students that he supervises. They praised his compassion, motivational and developmental supervisory style, and his kind and uplifting spirit.

 

  • Mackenzie Hogan receives Emerging Professional Award, presented by The Student Personnel Assistantship Program at The Ohio State University. Since graduating Mackenzie ('19) has served as the program coordinator for the Collegiate Recovery Community in the Student Life Student Wellness Center. Mackenzie’s nominator emphasized Mackenzie’s application of student development theory and holistic student support on behalf of non-traditional students and marginalized populations.

 

  • Adrian Bitton, Graduate Teaching Assistant, receives the Porterfield-Dickens Award, presented by The Student Personnel Assistantship Program at The Ohio State University.  The first recipient of the 2024 Porterfield-Dickens Award is Adrian Bitton (PhD Candidate)! In her dissertation, Adrian aims to generate a theory focused on how students develop a socially just orientation toward leadership. 

 

  • Brandon Horton receives Outstanding Campus Community Partner, presented by Sorority and Fraternity Life - Office of Student Life at The Ohio State University.

 

  • The Student Life Student Wellness Center is an Agility Grant recipient presented by the National Council on Problem Gambling. The Ohio State University, through the Office of Student Life Student Wellness Center, will create a comprehensive gambling prevention and education program for the student body intended to highlight the intersection of gambling and other areas of health and wellbeing, including substance use and financial wellness.

 

  • The Student Life Student Wellness Center Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) is a first round recipient of the Ohio Collegiate Recovery Community Expansion Grant. This grant opportunity is for the expansion and strengthening of current Ohio CRCs with the goal of increasing sustainability for Ohio CRCs and making recovery accessible to more higher education students around Ohio.
