Recovery Month at Ohio State
What is Recovery Month?
Recovery Month is a university-wide collaboration to celebrate recovery at Ohio State. This month of events is devoted to celebrating the transformative power of recovery, highlighting the achievements of those who have reclaimed their lives in long-term recovery from mental health and/or substance use disorders, and promote the message that recovery in all of its forms is possible. It is an opportunity to remember that when those who struggle are properly supported, they do recover! Throughout the month, events will take place all over campus covering topics such as self-expression and identity, recovery, substance misuse prevention, media representation and influence, allyship and creating a culture of positivity.
Recovery Month is open to all students, staff and faculty. Regardless of your knowledge base or experience, we encourage you to attend at least one event to learn how you can celebrate those in or seeking recovery, learn to be an ally and discover the impact of recovery.
Programs, workshops, events and resources will be offered to:
- Celebrate the accomplishments of those in and seeking recovery
- Educate communities and individuals on how to be recovery allies
- Empower all to be mindful of their mental health as well as their alcohol and substance use
- Educate communities and individuals on the community impact of recovery
- Raise awareness of the resources and work being done on Ohio State's campus
When is Recovery Month?
National Recovery Month is September 1 - 30.
